The Later Life Lending Summit, held on 19 November 2024 in Sheffield, brought together professionals from the mortgage and later life lending sectors to discuss the evolving landscape of later life borrowing.
The event featured addresses by David Burrowes (Chair of the Equity Release Council and Robert Sinclair (Chief Executive of the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries). Mr Sinclair shared his thoughts on the market and how professionals can work together to achieve better consumer outcomes.
Following the welcome speeches, the almost 250 attendees participated in interactive sessions such as “Lender Lightning Talks” where providers shared market developments.
An “Advice in Action” session used case studies to explore customer needs and product choices. This engaging 90-minute segment featured concise, impactful presentations from six prominent later life lenders, followed by interactive and stimulating roundtable discussions.
It aimed to equip advisers with the knowledge to overcome obstacles in later life lending and enhance client outcomes. Speakers included Aviva’s John MacDonald, who discussed how knowing your client and focusing on ways to navigate the property puzzle can achieve better outcomes for customers.
